Botox (Cosmetic Botulinum Toxin) gently softens fine lines and wrinkles developed over our life time. At One Dental we use Dysport both cosmetically and as a therapeutic agent for TMJ pain.
Cosmetically Dysport (Botox) can be used to reduce frown lines, crow’s feet, lip lines, bunny lines and smoothing the forehead lines. We are also able to lower high smile lines reducing the gummy smile.

Cosmetic Botox
Botox and Dysport and primarily known for their cosmetic usage in gently smoothing ageing wrinkles. Frownlines, downward turnng smiles, forehead wrinkles and crows feet around the eyes can all be gently smoothed.
Lip lines and high smile lines can also be altered with small amounts of Dysport.
MIGRANE MANAGEMENT WITH BOTOX
Migraine treatment with Botox
Migraine treatment involves larger doses injected into the muscles of the head and neck which frequently tense or spasm causing pain. It can assist people struggling with 15 or more headache days a month, of which 8 are migraines lasting over 4 hours. It is usually repeated after 3 months.
Due to the higher doses, there is significant muscle change to the size and shape of the muscle of the face.
CLENCHING AND TMJ PAIN REDUCTION
Botox for TMJ jaw pain
Stress can cause us to clench and grind our teeth – leading to TMJ or jaw pain. If you are finding yourself struggling with TMJ pain Botox (Dysport) can help. Botulinum toxin is injected in small doses into the masseter and temporalis muscles (the jaw muscles), this weakens the muscle enough to stop involuntary grinding and clenching – helping reduce pain.

Nicky Francis BDS BSc PGDipSci is a Dentist with over 20 years experience, plus has spent time as a Maxillofacial house surgeon where she was involved with the Waikato surgeons in facial reconstruction following trauma, cancer and aesthetically with Orthodontic surgical reconstruction. This has given Nicky an intimate understanding of the bones and muscles that shape and create the face. Nicky was trained in the use of Dysport and Xeomin by the New Zealand Dental Association and continues to regularly attend courses and training in injectables.
Treatment is done at both our branches of One Dental at Stoke and Mapua.
